Grow and Paint Party Friday!

Alright, so you all know I've been fairly indisposed being home and all. And I have not had paints here. But I have managed to do a drawing for me and Sarah's grow project! (She posted hers yesterday, check it out it turned out awesome!!!)

So I did this for the project, it didn't turn out quite as I had hoped but interesting results just the same! Inspired me to do some weird tie art when I get home. But regardless this is what I ended up with:

So! If you did anything for the first prompt just comment the link on either me or Sarah's blog and one of us will definitely post the picture! And if you haven't done it, feel free to do it at anytime and we'll still post it. And stay turned for tomorrow's prompt in case you want to join in.

Also happy Paint Party Friday everyone!!! I haven't actually been able to paint this week, but where my parents have a scanner I HAVE been able to scan something I painted last week. It was a quick watercolor sketch that ended up having a style I really like.

It's me smoking. I actually have a sweater kind of like that that I wear religiously. It's coral.

And on the note of smoking, everyday I've been to the hospital to see my grandmother she tells me to quit smoking. So I promised her I would before I leave. So any advice for the quitting? I've never actually I tried before. I'm going to go on the patch, has anyone quit on the patch? How did you do it? Cold turkey? Nicorette gum? I'd love some motivation and advice on how to quit. : )

  1. I like both your drawings. The first one can be interpreted in lots of ways, brilliant!

I hope you can quit. My hairdresser kind of had to because he got a heart condition and it was likely a matter of life and death.

  2. I love both drawings. Ok, I quit smoking a few years ago and it was NOT easy. but first off you have to really want to quit. Doing it for someone else doesn't usually work. It has to be for you. I did use the patch for about 3 weeks then I just stopped using them all together. I still crave but it usually only lasts a few seconds and then I move on. Sunflower seeds help too if you like them. Good luck on that journey and don't beat yourself up if you quit for a short time and then start and then quit. Very rarely does it work the first time around.

  3. I love your drawings! As for quitting smoking, well i have no suggestions since ive never smoked but people who have quit say cold turkey is the only way to go

  4. I like your drawings. The one of you smoking is great. As for somoking I quit about 15 years ago. I can't even picture myself with a cigarette in my hand any longer. I wanted to quit because I smelled of cigarette as did my clothes, I went to my doctor and tried the patch for a bit and then finally I got Nicorette. That did it. Haven't smoked since and don't miss it. Good luck and try hard, you can do it and your work is great. Have a wonderful weekend.

  5. Your picture is so beautiful! I'm so in love with our first prompt. :)

And I've had at least two others play along my blog! SO EXCITED.

P.S. I am shocked to hear you want to quit smoking. :O

  8. If you have a quick watercolor looks great.
I stopped smoking five years ago and did not use anything, just really want to quit.

  9. I love the watercolor! I have tried and even quit for a few years but after a nasty divorce started again and just haven't had the will to quit again, yet. I did it with the patches and it was much easier than trying to go cold turkey.

  13. I love the first illustration - it's so intricate and you could look at it for ages and keep seeing new things!
As for smoking I started at high school and only quit when I was 34. I made a decision that I really wanted to stop (otherwise it won't work) and even gave away 400 duty free cigs i'd brought home from holiday!) I got the patches and they absolutely help you deal with the physical cravings while you get your head around the psychological ones. Best thing I ever did - just wish I'd done it years earlier! Good luck quitting - it isn't easy but if you beat it, you'll be so glad (and you won't stink any more either!)

  15. Love the sketches, the first one is really interesting with so much detail, can look at it and keep finding things. The sketch of you smoking is a good sketch. I quit smoking 13 years ago. First, and it's been said, you have to really want to quit for you. I went to see an acupuncturist and was in his office for 45 minutes and when I left I never smoked again. He told me it was like turning off a switch and if I ever even had one drag it would turn the switch on again. I have not wanted to smoke since. It was easy for me that time as I had tried many ways before and it never worked. The key is wanting to.

  18. Love both works and I wish you the best of luck in drawing yourself out of the nicotine's hold, let the paint brush take your hold!

  19. I love the busy-ness of the first piece, all of the little details and the blue lines. Art therapy really helps, too! Good luck!

  20. Both are very nice but most impressive is you intent to quit smoking! Good for you! Friends have said the patch and gum helped them. (But one still chews the gum 3 years later so I'd try the patches and chew regular gum.) Good luck!!!

  24. Your "grow" drawing is fab - very inspiring and it seems to tell a story. And your smoking painting is great - I like your painting style.

Re:quitting smoking. I tried to cut down but that didn't work. Eventually I went cold turkey which was difficult but worked. I didn't use any patches or similar so I can't really recommend. Good luck with it whatever way you choose.
