Paint Party Friday!

So over at Paint Party Friday you can post whatever you're painting every Friday! And it will keep you motivated. I think it's a great idea. This week as I said before I bought a fresh pad of watercolor paper (so exciting). I haven't had much time to paint because I worked all week but I did this painting last night.

Once again no scanner yet. (And yes I've been weirdly obsessed with smoke related art.)

Tell me what you think!

  1. Welcome to PPF, Lenoracle, great to have you!

You did a lovely job! (Of one of my least favourite things to look at, I'm afraid - funny how different things inspire each of us!!)

  4. Great use of composition here! I like the trailing off smoke your eye follows off the page...

  5. Freaky how seeing this just brought back my dream of last night which I had completely forgotten. I was smoking cigarettes which is odd since I've never been a smoker (well, I've smoked about six, so that hardly counts!).

It's beautifully done - you can smell the cigarettes I'm sure!!

  7. Great drawing and so realistic. Everyone says great composition and I will agree. Unfortunately I don't know the first thing about composition when it comes to my paintings. Tee Hee. Looks real except I don't want a puff. :) Quit about 20 years ago and am very happy I did. I love your work. Great job Happy PPF

  9. Wonderful handling of the smoke... great swirly trail. (And I love your intentional white space... I always have such a hard time with that)

I'm glad you're partying with us!

  10. Hi! This is great and looks so real. Your shading is really quite good and I love the way the smoke curls. So glad I quit though.

  14. Love the simplicity of your painting. It entices my imagination to think of the person who sits and smokes next to the painting.

You depiction of smoke is great. I've been wanting to do that but don't know how. :(

Great work and looking forward to your next painting. ;)

  18. Like everyone else said, this looks amazingly real! I quit 5 years ago and cigs disgust me now but you've actually made this look appealing. I can nearly imagine picking it up and taking a drag!

  20. Wow...great work! Reminds me of growing up actually. My parents were both smokers and I can picture them sitting around the dinner table late in the evening and the smoke wafting through the dimmed lights.
